Bio: The USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) was the first Communist nation. It followed the ideas of Communism set by Karl Marx. (Writer of the Communist Manifesto) Before the Soviets it was the Russian Empire ruled by kings known as Czars. The Pheasants were not too happy with the Czars due to high taxes and that they kept dissolving the Duma (a kind of parliament for normal citizens) because of acts like this Russian workers started talking of Revolution. The leader for such a revolution was Vladamir Lenin who would later be the first leader of the Soviet Union. The revolution started on October and lasted till 1923. Lenin only lived for another year after he won the Civil war. Giving the leadership role to his Second-in-command, Joseph Stalin. Under Stalins rule Russia went from a large farming country to a industrial powerhouse. Building thousands of factories with apartments to accommodate all the workers. After the World War 2 Russia became the Worlds Nuclear power followed by the USA. The Soviets supported and helped many Communist rebellions in Africa, China, Korea, Vietnam, and Cuba. They at one point even set up nuclear missile launch sites in Cuba until they were forced to take them down; they also sent air units into Korea to help about but this was denied by them in order to avoid a third world war. The USSR really started collapsing in November of 1989 when the Berlin wall was ordered to be torn down. After which many European nations under Soviet control started to declare independence. In which Gorbachev did nothing to stop them saying "We have no right to stop them". The Soviet Union was officially declared to no longer exist December 26th 1991 due to Economic and cultural problems.
